SheFront Standards

Privacy

Clear standards for how SheFront publishes, protects its community and operates the platform.

What this page covers

This Privacy notice explains the main types of information SheFront may process when you browse the site, create an account, contribute a story, subscribe to the newsletter, follow or save content, comment, or contact the editorial team.

Information you provide

Depending on how you use SheFront, you may provide your name, email address, password, contributor profile information, biography, location, website, story drafts, comments, contact messages and newsletter subscription details.

Passwords are stored using password hashing rather than as readable passwords.

Information created through your use

When you use account features, the platform may store actions such as stories you save, contributors you follow, submissions you create, editorial review status and comments you post.

Hosting infrastructure may also generate standard technical logs such as IP address, browser information, timestamps and requested pages.

How information is used

Information may be used to operate accounts, provide contributor tools, review and publish submissions, moderate comments, deliver requested newsletters, respond to messages, protect the platform and maintain service reliability.

We do not publish private drafts simply because they are saved to a contributor account. A community submission becomes public only through the publishing workflow.

Public contributor information

Information intentionally placed on a public contributor profile — such as display name, biography, expertise, profile image or published stories — may be visible to anyone visiting the site.

Do not place confidential information in a public profile or published submission unless you intend it to be public.

Newsletter email

If you subscribe to The SheFront Brief, your email address is stored for newsletter delivery. You may ask to stop receiving newsletter emails. Administrators can also mark a subscriber as unsubscribed.

Service providers

SheFront may rely on hosting, email, analytics, security or other technical service providers. Those providers may process limited information as necessary to provide their service.

Security

We use reasonable technical controls such as HTTPS-ready sessions, password hashing, prepared database queries and access controls. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

Retention

Information may be retained while an account is active, while required for editorial records, moderation, security, legal obligations or legitimate operational needs.

Your choices

You may contact SheFront about access, correction or deletion of personal information where appropriate. Some editorial, moderation, security or legal records may need to be retained.

Contact

For privacy questions, use the Contact page or email the address shown in the site footer.
